His first photo was taken in 1910. He studied theater in Berlin, then received his doctorate in 1924 at the Pázmány Péter University of Budapest. From this year he is a journalist and photo journalist at Est Lapok, and his pictures appeared in Pesti Napló's Image Attachment and in the Theater Life. From 1926 he lived in Paris, he was James Abbe's assistant, he was the correspondent of the Est Leaks, and from 1928 of London General Press. He was a master of political reporting, photographing celebrities with the technique used to photograph everyday life making him famous. His pictures were published in Vu, L’Illustration, Münchner Illustrierte Presse, Weekly Illustrated, Lilliput, Picture Post. From 1939 he lived in New York as a photojournalist (Time, Newsweek). 1947–1955: Voice of America announcer and editor, held a portrait studio in Great Barrington (Mass., USA) between 1954 and 1977. From 1970, he was recruited by George Eastman House staff.
