Farkas István
Date:
18 February 1999 - 27 February 1999
Location:
I consciously decided to organize monographic exhibitions only for the most significant Hungarian painters. István Farkas 's extraordinarily powerful and involving art is inseparably welded to his personal life. His oeuvre , as seen from the perspective of his tragic death, fills with deep, general contents. His paintings have a strong effect not just through their pictorial force, they also evoke the personal and communal tragedy of tempestuous times. The works, which come from five museums and about forty private collections, have been compiled into a new temporary unit with the help of Éva Gelencsér Rothman, the art historian.
