Tihanyi, Lajos, Budapest, 1885 - 1938, Párizs
He arrived in the artists colony of Nagybánya in 1907, after having undertaken studies at the School of Applied Drawing and a private school, and worked there until 1910. He took a trip to Paris in 1910, and became familiar with the works of van Gogh, Cézanne and the Fauves, with the influence of Matisse dominant. He was a member of "The Eight", and later joined the activists. After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic he went to Vienna, lived in Berlin between 1920 and 1924, and finally settled in Paris. He was a member of the group Abstraction-Création as of 1933. His activity as an artist joins the Neos of Nagybánya, "The Eight" and the activists.
