Tamkó Sirató, Károly Újvidék, 1905 - 1980, Budapest
Although he published his first poems at the age of fifteen, he studied law between 1922 and 1926 in Budapest. Under the influence of Avant-Garde literature, he wrote picture-poems and worked in the circle of the Magyar Irás (Hungarian Writing) of Szeged in 1924. In 1928 his book 'Papírember' appeared with a typographical look where the visuality was just as important as the poems themselves. In 1930 he travelled to Paris, making his living in photography. After elaborating his Dimensionist Manifesto - about making the barriers of literature and visual arts disappear - several artists joined him; Arp, Kandinsky, Moholy-Nagy, Picabia among them. He returned home because of his illness and became well-known principally because of his children's poems. Bibliography: ACZÉL, Géza: Tamkó Sirató Károly, Budapest, Akadémiai, 1981.
