Szigethy, István Erzsébetváros, 1891 - 1966, Nagymaros
A pupil of Károly Ferenczy and Tivadar Zemplényi at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, he continued his studies in Nagybánya and Munich. He became a close friend of Ede Bohacsek, painting his portrait in 1913. An ex-libris volume of his work was published in Kolozsvár (now Cluj in Romania), with an introduction penned by Frigyes Karinthy. He published Grotesque, a portfolio of copper etchings, in 1922, which had a preface by Dezső Kosztolányi. He lived in Berlin from the late twenties up till 1932, and his drawings were regularly published in the journal Jugend. Upon his return to Hungary he became one of the most popular caricaturists in Budapest newspapers.
