Stefán, Henrik Máriakéménd, 1896 - 1971, Amersee
Having graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts as an art teacher in 1921, he went on a study tour in Italy together with the fellow-painters Hugó Johan and Farkas Molnár. They enrolled in the Bauhaus together. In 1922 he took part in the De Stijl-courses of Theo van Doesburg, the Dutch constructivist artist working in Weimar. Stefán also worked in the Bauhaus stone sculpture workshop. In 1922 he returned to Hungary and settled in Törökbálint. From 1925 to 1928 he studied in the Bauhaus again. In 1929 he settled in Pécs and changed his name to Szelle. In 1945 he moved to Germany with his family. Bibliography: BAJKAY, Éva: Expresszívek a Pécsi Művészkörből, Jelenkor, 1997/9, 835-847.
