Sher-Gil, Amrita Budapest, 1913 - 1941, India
She received her first lessons form her uncle Ervin Baktay who had first trained as a painter later to become an Indologist. In 1921 she travelled to India with her family and settled down in Simla. In 1929 she moved to Paris where she attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere and École des Beaux-Arts. She regularly visited Hungary during these years and often stayed in Zebegény and Verőce.
