Patkó, Károly Budapest, 1895 - 1941, Budapest
Studied first at the art teacher training department of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, joining István Réti's class in 1941. Taught himself at in the artist colony of Nagybánya in the summers of 1913 and 1914, and became a graduate student at the Graphic art department in 1922 and 1923. Took a study tour of Italy and visited Paris, while working in Nagybánya and Felsőbányain the mid twenties. Participated in the exhibitions of KUT and the Munkácsy Guild regularly form 1927. Spent time in Rome between 1929 and 1932, as a scholarship holder of the Collegium Hungaricum. Began his experiments with the material of painting during this time, using tempera, a medium he then switched to completely. He worked as an high-school art teacher from 1934.
