Krizsán, János Kapnikbánya, 1866 - 1948, Nagybánya
On of the most momentous personages of the second Nagybánya generation. He worked in Nagybánya from 1902-as a pupil of István Réti and Béla Iványi Grünwald, and became a teacher in the free school in 1926. His artistic interest focused on landscape painting depicting the surroundings of Nagybánya. He worked in the spirit hat his predecessors defined as the core of Nagybánya. As he grew up in Nagybánya, his inner union with the region resulted in a peculiar profundity and flavour in his pictures. The meandering valleys, mountain tops and woody hillsides emanate a poetic awe and lifelike vitality in his compositons.
His extraordinary ability lay in an endowing landscapism based on the sight with eternal timeliness and never-dying beauty.
