Korniss, Dezső Beszterce, 1908 - 1984, Budapest
A pupil of István Csók and János Vaszary at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts, he went on study tours to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam in 1930-1931. Later he worked in Szentendre with Lajos Vajda. In 1946 he was one of the founders of the art group Európai Iskola (European School). Before the war, he painted strongly abstract pictures based on surrealistic associations and using foklore motives. His post-war calligraphy committed his work to non-figurative art. His art was instrumental in the development of Avant-garde and later, of post-Avant-garde trends.
