Johan, Hugó Pécs, 1890 - 1951, Pécs
In 1911 he got his dispensing chemist degree, but was also engaged in drawing and painting. He worked as a chemist in Kolozsvár (Cluj Napoca) for two years and then in Pécs until 1918. In the 1910s he studied painting under Péter Dobrovics whose activist style had a strong in.uence on his art. He was a member of the Artists Circle of Pécs. In 1921 he went on a study tour in Italy with Henrik, Stefán and Farkas Molnár, then he asked to be admitted to the Bauhaus in Weimar. He studied glass-painting in Berlin, and when he returned home, founded the Hungarian Glass-Painting Workshop. Finally he gave up painting and regularly was commissioned to design stained glass windows for churches.
