Gárdos, Miklós Cegléd, 1904 - 1949, Budapest
Sculptor and painter. He got admission to the Hungarian Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest in 1922, in István Kiss' painter class on Zsigmond Kisfaludy Stróbl's recommendation. From 1925 he continued his studies at the Paris Ecole de Beaux-Arts (his master was Antoine Injalbert), where at the same time he won the institution's grand prize. Some of his sculptures were worked out in the Herend porcelain factory. In 1926 he worked in Florence as well. From 1927 he is a full member of KUT, and following Janos Vaszary he joined the UME. The mature period of his classical modernist works is influenced by art deco processes in choice of subject and both form. After his return to Cegléd in 1945, he is the local artist guild leader until his death.
