Dobrovits, Péter (Petar Dobrovic) 1890 - 1942
Petar Dobrovic
A painter of Croatian descent, he studied at the School of Applied Arts between 1907 and 1909, at the same time as Ede Bohacsek, József Nemes-Lampérth and Béla Uitz. He joined the Activist movement along with them in 1915-1916. Kassák reproduced his The Mourning of Christ, produced both as a wash drawing and as a painting, in Tett. This piece, an expressive-naturalist product, created one of the greatest controversies in the short-lived existence of the journal. Dobrovits participated in the 1916 and 1917 exhibitions of the Activists, and went back to Croatia after the war.
