Csók, István 1865 - 1961
He attended the Pattern Drawing School in Budapest from 1882, going on to Munich in 1885, where he settled after two years (1887-1889) spent in Paris at the Julian Academy. He formed a close friendship with Simon Hollósy early on during his study years in Munich, and visited Nagybánya soon after the establishment of the artist colony there. He worked in Paris from 1903 to 1910, and participated on the jubilee exhibition of the artists of Nagybánya. He taught at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts, and was the president of various artistic associations. He published his memoirs in 1945 - , and a museum dedicated to his memory opened in Cece in 1962.
