Collier, John 1850 - 1934
John Collier was an English portrait -painter. He studied in London, Paris and Munich. He became well-known with his historic paintings in the 1880's.
Later on he painted genre-paintings and portraits for example of Charles Darwin, or Thomas H. Huxley. He also wrote books on portrait-painting.
John Collier was a regular exhibitor of the Royal Academy, and the Vice President of the Society of Portrait-Painters.
